Buckle-Up Bolton Driving School has provided driving lessons to the people of Bolton for nearly 20 years. In that time, we have helped hundreds of people to pass their test, and learn how to drive safely for life. Our Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), Steve Eckersley, is registered with the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and is also a certified Pass Plus trainer.

Steve's experience covers all ages and abilities. He understands that everyone learns in different ways, and at different rates. That's why each driving course is tailored to suit the individual. Doing it in this way has meant that his pupils often pass first time, and with very few minor faults (if any). Steve is patient, friendly, punctual and reliable.

These qualities, on top of his advanced driving expertise, make him an excellent choice for anyone wishing to learn how to drive. Our driving lessons are designed around you. We want to be sure that you get the absolute best experience from learning to drive, as well as achieve the ultimate goal of passing your test in the fewest number of lessons possible.
Services
We often get asked why it's best to choose an independent driving school like us, over one of the cheaper large chains.
In our nearly 20 years of being an independent driving school, we've lost count of the number of pupils that have chosen to learn with us after trying one of the chains.
They are usually attracted by the low hourly rate, thinking that it will cost less to learn to drive.
However, the reality is that the high turnover of instructors with larger chains means that pupils often find themselves with several different instructors during their course.
Passing your driving test is only the first step towards being a safe, experienced driver.
For that reason, insurance companies often charge much higher premiums to first time drivers as they have had no opportunity to prove that they are low risk on the road.
Pass Plus is an optional training course that can be taken after you pass your driving test.
It enhances your driving skills to make you a safer driver, reducing the likelihood of you having an accident and making a claim.
For this reason, insurance companies often offer a discount to drivers who've taken the course.
In order to book your practical driving test, you must have first passed your theory test.
There is no minimum number of lessons that you must have taken before you can take your practical driving test.
We will tell you when we think you are ready - by which time we would be confident that you can complete everything required by the national standard for driving cars without instruction.
The examiner will check your eyesight by asking you to read a number plate from 20 metres.
You will be asked two 'show me, tell me' vehicle safety questions to test that you know how to carry out basic safety checks.
