I have been a fully qualified, DSA approved, Driving Instructor since 2005 and I use the LD System, providing a well-designed driving course so that you learn quickly and effectively. Learning materials are included. Lessons can start or finish at home, work, college, school, or a Metro station in my area. I also do semi-intensive courses where you receive 30 hours training, learning materials and your first attempt at the driving test included in the price.
Services
I decided to become a driving instructor because I enjoy meeting people, and I have always loved driving.
After considerable research, I chose to train with LDC because the LD System provides a well-designed programme of learning with clear objectives.
During each lesson a learner driver has a number of targets to reach, before moving on to the next lesson.
This means that a pupil learns the simpler things first, and feels much more confident when we start to look at more complex tasks.
If this is your first lesson with me, but you have already got some experience of driving, I would drive you to a quiet area where I can assess how far you have progressed, and then I can give you some idea of what we need to do to get you up to the right standard to pass the driving test and continue driving safely.
Learning to drive, using the LD System, can be spread over several weeks and lessons can be booked individually or in a block at a discount.
If you book a block of 10 hours you receive the LD driving skills DVDs and workbook when you pay for the block.
Lessons are usually 2 hours long but can be shorter, depending on where you live.
The training is spread over two or more weeks to suit your schedule.
This is the most popular and successful form of intensive training.
It is designed for people who want to pass the test quickly but at a comfortable pace.
The LD System is designed to help make the process of learning to drive as easy and as efficient as possible whether you are taking driving lessons professionally or with a family member or friend.
Below is an outline of how the system works.
Acquire knowledge - Watch the lesson on the LDC driving skills DVD (or Blu-ray disc), study the highly illustrated lesson notes in the LDC driving skills workbook and read the Highway Code sections identified.
This will show you everything you need to know and do in the practical driving lesson.
Your driving lesson would start when I pick you up from home, school, college or work.
If you are in the early stages of learning I would drive you to the area that we would be practising in.
If it is your first lesson, we would start by getting you comfortable in the driving seat, adjusting the mirrors and showing you how to use the basic controls.
This would probably take place in a large empty car park, where we can drive around in circles to get you used to the steering.
When you are ready we could move to a quiet public road and do some moving off and stopping, and then later some simple left and right turns.
During your driving test you will drive for about 20 minutes, either following directions from a satnav or by following road signs.
The examiner will set up the satnav for you so you don't need to do anything with the device.
You will be able to follow the route shown on the display and also hear the voice commands from the satnav.
If you can't see a road sign because, for instance, it might be obscured by a tree, the examiner will give you directions.
The examiner wants to see you drive safely.
