Mint Driving
We are a fresh, exciting and energetic Driving School - who are as excited about teaching as you are about learning. Driving is a skill that you'll enjoy for the rest of your life, and that's why we enjoy teaching you. We're passionate about giving you the ability and confidence to get out there on the open roads. All of our instructors are registered with the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency, and are licensed to give driving tuition.

It's not just our students who take driving tests - every instructor at MINT has passed comprehensive tests and is regularly re-assessed to make sure they meet the DVSA's extremely high standards. And we wouldn't have it any other way! We want you to enjoy learning, but we're also serious about teaching you in the safest and most professional way.

All of our cars are geared for safety too - they're clean, modern, maintained to the highest standards, fitted with dual controls, and fully insured for you to drive. We want you to get the most out of your time and money spent with us, so we'll create a course that's adapted to your individual needs - taking into account your existing skills, strengths, and weaknesses.
Services
So you've decided you want to learn to drive.
You might be looking for automatic driving lessons in Chesterfield, manual driving lessons in Chesterfield or driving lessons in Derby.
Check your eyesight - you must be able to read a current style number plate from 20.5 metres.
If you wear glasses, that's fine - you'll just need to ensure you've got them on whilst driving.
Once your provisional has arrived, call MINT on 0800 0141 679, or drop us a message here and book your first lesson.
A lesson lasts for an hour, although we usually recommend taking two lessons together - that way you can warm up, and then have some good quality driving time.
Plus if you don't live close to the Driving Test Centre in Derby, Chesterfield or Burton then this will give you more time in and around the test area.
If two hours sounds a bit daunting, you can book an hour and a half if you prefer - we're completely flexible, and happy to do whatever suits you.
The Driving Theory Test is a computerised test consisting of multiple-choice questions about the theory of driving, rules, laws, and the Highway Code.
It is followed by a video-based hazard perception test, which is designed to test your ability to observe potential hazards both on and around the road.
Your MINT Driving Instructor will give you tips on how to revise and where to get revision material from.
You'll get the result on the day at the Theory Test Centre, and you must pass both parts in order to pass the test.
Everyone wants to pass their test first time, and MINT wants to see that happen for you as well.
PRACTISE: If you're in a situation to, then get behind the wheel as much as you can between lessons and work on any skills you still need to master, whilst also keeping up on the things you're great at.
Your MINT Driving Instructor will be able to tell you what to work on.
MOCK TEST: Your MINT Driving Instructor will take you through a mock test so that you can get the full experience of how it feels taking the driving test.
A "Tell Me" question at the beginning of the test and a "Show Me" questions whilst on the move.
You'll find the questions below.
Manufacturer's guide, use a reliable pressure gauge, check and adjust pressures when tyres are cold, don't forget spare tyre, remember to refit valve caps.
Tell me how you make sure your head restraint is correctly adjusted so it provides the best protection in the event of a crash.
The head restraint should be adjusted so the rigid part of the head restraint is at least as high as the eye or top of the ears, and as close to the back of the head as is comfortable.
