Chapman's Driving School
Based in Chandler's Ford, I provide driving tuition in Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh, Winchester & local surrounding areas. My tuition car is a fully electric Kia e-Niro. With no gears or clutch to worry about, learning to drive in a modern electric car is easier than a manual, and great for the environment too!

I will tailor your tuition to suit your individual needs with client centred learning in place, teaching you skills above and beyond those required to pass the practical driving test, and ensuring you're safe on the road for the rest of your life.I welcome all ages and abilities from complete beginners to full licence holders. If you haven't driven in a while, I can help you find your confidence behind the wheel again!
Services
I'm Richard, your friendly Chandler's Ford based driving instructor.
I've lived in the Winchester area for over 30 years, and I moved to Chandler's Ford in 2018.
My motto is "Good Driving Is No Accident" - I pride myself on leaving no stone unturned in my efforts to make you safe and confident on our roads.
Before that time I worked for Hampshire County Council for 12 years in Facilities Management.
I have always enjoyed all aspects of driving; I love being behind the wheel.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy mountain biking and going on walks in the countryside and being with my family.
Pass Plus is an additional short course of structured training intended to improve the essential skills of new drivers.
Hampshire County Council currently offers a 75 contribution towards the cost of Pass Plus for anyone aged 17 to 24 in the Hampshire County Council local authority area.
Please note that this excludes the City of Southampton and City of Portsmouth.
With some tips and advice I can help you become more confident on the motorway, so you'll find journeys more pleasurable.
You can start learning to drive as soon as you receive your provisional licence.
In fact, many learners often find the theory material easier to understand after a little real-world experience.
Before you start your practical driving tuition, you must have a valid provisional driving licence.
You can apply on the GOV.UK website.
Alternatively, you can apply by post using form D1, available from many Post Office branches.
Everyone learns at a different pace, so it's impossible to give a definitive answer.
The theory test is a computer-based test, divided into two parts - multiple-choice questions, and the hazard perception test.
Both parts are taken in the same sitting.
The multiple-choice element consists of 50 questions.
Each question has 4 possible answers, and you must select the correct answer or answers.
You have 57 minutes for this part of the test, and must answer at least 43 questions correctly to pass.
You don't have to use all the available time, and can end the test as soon as you're happy to do so.
You must take your provisional driving licence, and your theory test pass certificate.
If you aren't able to show these to the examiner, your test won't go ahead, and you will lose the test fee.
Before you get in the car, the examiner will test your eyesight by asking you to read a car number plate from a distance of 20 metres.
You may wear glasses or contact lenses.
If you are in any doubt about your ability to pass this test, it's important that you seek advice from an optician.
If you fail, your test won't continue, and you'll lose the test fee.
