I have also undergone further training and now hold the Diploma in Driving Instruction Dip. D.I., and the City & Guilds 730 Teaching Certificate. Explore free resources from Abacus School of Motoring to supplement your practical driving lessons and assist in your preparation for the Theory Test and practical Driving Test.

I will personally invite you to join my free DROPBOX folder which has professionally produced detailed Lesson Plans, plus extensive articles and advice on learning to drive. I want to thoroughly recommend John Guest and the Abacus Driving School to anyone learning to drive. As an older and very nervous pupil I'd had some 'false starts' with instructors in the past but John's extremely calm and patient nature put me at ease.

John not only got through me through my test but has given me real confidence in my driving. Thank you very much John!

I have recently taken an interest in new Coaching methods and have done courses in NLP.
These methods are very successful with conquering Driving Test nerves.
Not wishing to become complacent with my own driving I took The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) Test in 1995 and the RoSPA Advanced Test in 2009.
It is essential to know exactly what you are going into.
Having a thorough understanding of what to expect on the driving test will give you more confidence as you will be aware of what exactly is going to happen on the day of the test.
The driving part of the driving test may only last 30 minutes or so, but a lot of ground can be covered in this time.
The examiner will test your ability on the most difficult areas of the test routes.
The driving test will include roundabouts, junctions and crossroads, all of various types.
I would recommend John to anyone looking for a driving instructor.
He is friendly and patient, and offers numerous helpful hints during lessons that are help you to remember the stages of each manoeuvre.
I found the lesson handouts very helpful, both as prepartion for lessons, and as a means of refreshing what I had learned before revisting specific manoeuvres.
It was also good to be able to see how I was progressing, and which areas I needed to work on, via the progress sheet.
The mock tests helped me a lot, and meant that I more comfortable on the test day.
I started driving with John in january and passed first time in march.
I have had many driving instructors in the past and John by far was the best.
I was very nervous and not confident in the slightest but after a few lessons with John he made me feel relaxed and my confidence came.
I always learnt something new with him.
John is very friendly and will always accomadate your needs.
Passing is the best feeling in the world and couldnt have done it without you john.
