Control Driving School is a driving school based in Barnsley and provides driving lessons and driving tuition in the local area. We have over 18 years experience of teaching people to drive in Barnsley and are fully qualified Driving Standards Agency approved instructors - so you can be confident that you are receiving driving lessons of the highest quality and at an affordable price.

Because we are a locally-based school our reputation means everything to us, so you know that you will be treated as an individual and receive the highest quality tuition possible. Because we are local to the area we know those dreaded test routes like the back of our hands! We offer many lesson types, from standard one-hour lessons to pass in a week intensive courses, all of which are on a one-to-one basis and structured around each individual pupil.

If you have already passed your test we can provide motorway lessons and also the Pass Plus course, which can dramatically reduce the amount of insurance you pay as a new driver, since we are fully recognised Pass Plus instructors.

Control Driving School was established in Barnsley in 2002.
Our main aim was to provide quality driving lessons at affordable prices and we have achieved that for the past thirteen years, which is why we are regarded as one of the most reliable and friendly driving schools in the area.
Our philosophy has always been that the more you drive the more you will learn, that's why we guarantee you are driving from your first lesson - many driving schools will not have you driving until your second or third lesson.
Here are a few of the different driving tuition courses we offer in Barnsley, Pontefract and Rotherham.
This is your typical type of driving lessons but structured to suit you and your style of learning so you can progress as quickly as possible.
Designed for people who need to be through their test as quickly as possible.
Our intensive courses vary in length from 2 Weeks to 6 Weeks, tuition is given in two hour blocks.
Many pupils ask for a couple of hours Motorway practice after they have passed their test just to give them that extra bit of confidence, also individuals that might have passed their test many years ago but never ventured onto the motorway.
A multiple-choice test comprising 50 multiple-choice questions covering aspects of the Highway Code.
The pass mark is 43.
A hazard perception test consisting of a series of video clips of actual road hazards that need to be identified.
The pass mark is 44.
The current driving test lasts approximatly 38 minutes this now includes a ten minute independant drive which was introduced last year.
First of all you will be asked to read a car number plate of your examiners choice from a distance of 20 metres.
Statistics prove that the risk of having an accident is highest during the first years of driving after passing the driving test.
This is why the Government launched the Pass Plus programme.
Backed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and major motor insurance companies, it is designed to help new drivers gain more experience and become better equipped for the demands of modern driving.
The course needs to be taken within twelve months of passing your driving test to qualify for the insurance benefits.
You will be asked one of the questions below at the start of your test before starting the engine.
Q1 Show me how you would check that the direction indicators are working.
A1 Applying the indicators or hazard warning switch and check functioning of all indicators.
Q2 Show me how you would check that the brake lights are working on this car.
A2 Operate brake pedal, make use of reflections in windows, garage doors, etc, or ask someone to help.
Q3 Show me / explain how you would check that the power assisted steering is working before starting a journey.
