Pro-motion Driving School
Pro-Motion Driving School is based in Dumfries and is operated by Gordon Riddell. Gordon is a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and is registered with the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the Driving Instructors Association (DIA). Gordon learned his trade with the AA Driving School and it is this experience that he has brought to his own driving school.

Make your whole learning experience as enjoyable as possible. I will give you the best possible chance of passing your test first time and give you all the skills and confidence needed in order for you to drive safely forever. I found all your driving lessons inspiring. Even on the days where I was lacking confidence your comprehensive tuition helped correct the errors I was making.

Thank you for your patience and excellent tuition during the refresher lessons I undertook. I have always struggled with roundabouts but you have now gave me the confidence to navigate roundabouts correctly. I would recommend your driving school to anyone.
Services
Should you wish to book and pay for more hours than stated above then please contact me for details.
People used to be confident at passing on their driving skills to others, but today's driving test is now a lot tougher so it is more important than ever to ensure that today's learner does not pick up any bad habits.
This is where my 2 hour course reaps its rewards.
During the 2 hours, you will have your own driving assessed and any bad habits or dangerous driving that would result in you failing today's driving test will be identified and corrected.
When you book your first driving lesson with Pro-Motion Driving School we will arranged a pick up location with you.
This is usually at your home address, or it could be a different location such as college or work if required.
You will need to bring your provisional driving licence with you for your first driving lesson as we need to ensure you are legal to drive.
How your first driving lesson starts depends on the area that you are picked up from and the duration of the lesson.
If I am to pick you up in a busy area I will meet and greet you and will check your provisional driving licence.
This is one of the most common questions that I am asked and there is no exact number of hours driving tuition that a person requires as it all depends on experience and the amount of practice needed in order to perfect manoeuvres.
However, the table below may help you gauge how many hours you may require.
The Driving Standards Vehicle Agency (DVSA) currently say a person should require about 45 hrs of driving lessons and 22hrs of private practice.
1. Do I need to do anything before I start driving?
You must be at least 17 years of age and hold a Provisional Driving Licence.
2. How much does it cost to get your provisional licence?
The Driving Vehicle Standards Agency publishes the cost of obtaining a driving licence on their website.
3. I have a non UK licence.
How can I find out if I can exchange it for a UK one?
Driving licences from many countries can be exchanged for British licences, but the process varies depending on which country you are from.
The second part of the test is known as "Hazard Perception" and involves watching video clips of driving situations.
To help you prepare for the theory test I can provide homework that consists of questions taken from the theory test question bank.
Practice questions are available online or you can purchase a book in relation to the theory test.
